Verifiable Credentials

Definition

Digitally signed, machine-verifiable statements about an entity (its identity, a role, a qualification), issued by a party the verifier trusts, that can be checked for integrity and authenticity without contacting the issuer.

How we use the term

The vLEI is one, chained to GLEIF's root of trust; they are how an organization and the people who act for it will prove themselves to agents.
