Definition
A family of formal languages for stating what kinds of things exist, what properties relate them and what rules those relations obey, so that a machine can check a set of facts for consistency and derive what follows from them. The logic beneath OWL and most ontologies.
How we use the term
The logic beneath The Authority Record™. Every predicate in your record declares which classes it may join and the rules it must obey, so the compiler refuses a fact that breaks them and a reasoning system can infer across your record without inventing a link. It is why your facts hold up under machine checking and why Huckleberry Way's build takes the care it does.
