Cataloguing

Definition

The practice of describing each item in a collection in a standard record (what it is, who made it, when, what it is about, how it relates to other items) so that it can be found, identified and distinguished from everything else the collection holds.

How we use the term

The craft The Authority Record™ comes from: one record per thing, in a standard form, kept with its sources. Huckleberry Way catalogues your business the way a library catalogues a collection, so each service, person, place and proof is described once, in a form a machine can find and tell apart.
