Definition
The retrieval step that selects one passage of a few hundred tokens from a page or a post to answer one sub-query, rather than reading the document whole.
How we use the term
Models read a passage at a time, so a passage that does not carry the business's name loses to one that does; writing in complete, self-contained passages keeps a fact whole when it is extracted.
