Grounding

Definition

Tying a model's output to evidence it has retrieved, so that each claim in the answer can be traced to a source rather than generated from the model's parameters.

How we use the term

Fresh, structured, first-party facts on the business's own domain are the grounding material that lets a model cite a business rather than guess.
